It's about time I put mine and Trevor's story up... there's been a lot of requests for the detailed version so before you read on, go grab some popcorn and find some place comfy to sit because I promise you, it's a LONG one!
It was August 2011 just before Fall semester had started when I first saw Trevor. A friend and I had decided to go to an FHE activity for a pool party to get to know some more people in our ward. I got there a little late and quickly caught up with my friend who had already seemed to have made a million friends. We hung out for a bit, met a few people, but one boy in particular came up and started talking with us. He was flirting with my friend (obviously attracted to her, she's GORGEOUS), and we talked casually a couple times, but I didn't think much of him. I had never seen him before and quickly assumed he wasn't in our ward- I thought he had come with a friend or something.
I probably would have forgotten about him if I hadn't seen him again just a week or so later after a big YSA stake fireside. I was talking with a big group of my friends and there he was again! He seemed to know EVERYONE I knew, yet how come I had never met him before? Anyways, we talked a little bit more, he seemed nice but again, I didn't really think much about him.
Another week after that, Katie and I made our weekly trip to Top Hat when I recognized this same boy. He was there with his little brother, picking out a movie. He quickly recognized Katie and I and we started talking and actually getting to know each other. I found out his name was Trevor, he went to Woods Cross, graduated in 2007, knew pretty much EVERYONE I knew, except we never knew each other. Weeeird. Anyways, he mentioned that he had been working at Olive Garden and I-being the polite person that I am- promptly asked him if he could get me free food cause I LOVE that place :) his next line is great bahahaha and he'll never live it down: he said he could get me free food "Only if you go on a date with me!" Well, I'm not one to turn down meeting someone new (I'm also not one to turn down free food for that matter) so I agreed and we got one of his friends to go with us making it a double date. So, we exchanged numbers and just like that, Katie and I walked out of the store with a good movie to watch and a date for the weekend. Pret-ty good deal if I do say so myself!
Sooo Sunday rolled around and as I walked in to the chapel, much to my surprise, there was Trevor. Yep, ladies and gentleman, he was in my ward. Good thing we weren't "dating" we were just going on A date right? Cause I'm not really in to the who wardies dating thing.... yeeeeaaaaah... ANYways he pulled me to the side after sacrament meeting and we reminded each other of our names as he made sure I was still on for the date that weekend.
After church he texted me to see if it was alright to call (side note: this was a definite turn on! I hate boys who can text and text, but seem to have a problem with talking to you on the phone. And I wasn't about to start a "texting relationship" - been there, done that). So he called me and said that he would love to see me before our date on Friday. He knew I liked watching Psych (something we had discovered we both liked when we were at the movie store), so he suggested that we get a group of friends together and have a Psych movie marathon at his house on Monday. Well, I was down, it would be nice to get to know him better before the date anyways, so I gave Katie a call and it was planned.
Psych night started out being really fun! It was great to get to know Trevor and his friend better, and it's always fun when Katie and I can hang out and be our crazy selves together. But the whole night, I was a little uneasy about how I should act around Trevor. He was way nice, suuuuper flirty, and I could tell he liked me, but I didn't know him well enough to really decide how to be around him. As soon as the shows started I could tell he wanted to hold my hand- and he had his arm around me before I could really decide if I should let him. I really didn't want to start this friendship off with the wrong impression, and I really didn't want to lead him on. Needless to say, I knew he liked me from that point on which was greeeeeeat, but I really didn't know how I felt about him yet. I had just met the guy!
Thus began all the loops and back and forth emotions that occupied the beginning of me and Trevor's relationship and make it a funny story! I'll refer to it again and again... and again later :)
That pretty much sums it up for "How We Met!" I'll have Our Story Part 2: The Dating Life up sometime soon... then the proposal, THEN I can get on to the fun stuff like wedding plans: cake flavors, bridesmaid dresses, flowers, colors... are you as excited as I am??
